Last Saturday the boys’ hockey team played Eau Claire North at Wessman arena, losing 3-4 in overtime.

Seniors Tucker Stamper and Max Plunkett combined for two unanswered goals to start the game. In the second period, Eau Claire came back with two of their own goals.

With 4:30 remaining in the third period, junior Taylor Burger scored on a backhand wrap around to go up 3-2. Burger’s goal seemed to be the game-winner until Eau Claire scored with 2.7 seconds left in the third period to force overtime.

With 3:25 left in the overtime, Eau Claire scored and beat the Spartans.

Before the game, the Spartans were ranked third in the state.  Their record dropped to 11-4-1.
