Superior Spartan Wrestlers held their home opener on Dec. 14, 2023 against the Ashland Oredockers. The Spartans were defeated 39-36 after Ashland received pins in six out of their ten active weight classes. The match went back and forth the whole night. Sophomore Beckett Seldon gave the Spartans hope in the 190 lbs weight class by pinning his opponent in the second period. The Spartans would eventually fall in the last two matches giving Ashland the win. 

Spartan Wrestlers then traveled to Cameron High School on Dec. 15, 2023 to participate in a dual tournament. They had an overall team record of 4-1 from the tournament defeating Unity 54-23, Cameron 43-42, Durand 60-15, and Bloomer 48-35. Only loss of the night was to Shell Lake 49-30. 

This brings the Spartan Wrestlers team dual record to 6-4. See them next on Dec. 21, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in an individual tournament at Grand Rapids High School.
