Seniors Landon Anrig, Carter St. Germaine, Calvin Anderson, Colson Schumacher and Carter Gilbertson raised money for skin cancer research while playing a game against Rock Ridge on Jan. 29.
The senior boys chose skin cancer as focus because they felt like skin cancer was not getting enough recognition.
“Although breast cancer is a big problem every single sport does it every single year and skin cancer is a big problem and there needs to be more research done towards it and we wanted to focus on that this year and switch it up,” Anrig said.

There were t-shirts sold at the game with the sponsors on the back and a Spartan Basketball logo on the front. These sponsors were Amsoil, Esterbrooks, and Edward Jones. At halftime there was a game where attendees could buy a ball to toss near a ring and whoever got the closest won a TV.
All of the earnings made from the game are going to Essentia Health to aid in skin cancer research. The team beat Rock Ridge with a score of 70-51 putting the cherry on top of their senior project and raising money for skin cancer research while doing so.
