Girls Hockey
On Jan. 26, the Spartans started their week off strong with a big win over the Bluejackets of Hibbing. The Spartans were led by senior forward Adalyn Benson and freshman forward Nora Madsen, both putting up three points for the Spartans.
With a quick turnaround, the girls were right back in the action Tuesday night where they fell short to the Proctor Hermantown Mirage 0-4 at home.
The girls closed out the week on Saturday with a loss against St. Croix Valley, 1-3.
Boys hockey
The boys kicked off the week against the Minnesota’s Class A No. 6 ranked Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks on Jan. 28. The Spartans fell to the lumberjacks in the final minutes of the game. Senior goaltender Ryan Pettingill held the lumberjacks to just one goal on 35 shots, ending the game in a 0-1 final
Boys hockey was back in action Thursday night in Hibbing, where the Minnesota Class A No. 2 ranked Bluejackets rolled over the Spartans in a 0-7 loss. This moved the Spartans to 8-12-1 on the season.

Spartans fell short of the Hunters of Denfeld on Tuesday in an OT thriller, 51-53. This game also included their tradition of Pie Night.
The team was at home on Thursday where they defeated the Rock Ridge Wolverines 71-50 in a special Black Out game raising awareness for Skin Cancer. This event was put on by seniors Carter Gilbertson, Carter StGermaine, Landon Anrig, Calivn Anderson, and Colson Schumacher.
Girls Basketball
Girls basketball crossed the bridge Tuesday night where they come up short to the Hawks of Hermantown 37-50.
Boys Swim and Dive
Boys swim and dive was also in action on Tuesday with an undisputed win over Proctor-Esko-Hermantown at home.
Boys Wrestling
Boys wrestling faced off against Spooner Area High School at home Thursday night. Varsity winners from Superior included juniors Versii Kavajecz, Exxl Kavajecz, Noah Rudkin, Zane Hurska, freshman Ethan Wosmek, senior Ricky Resendez. The team was led by senior captain Beckett Selden who picked up his 30th win of the season, moving him to 30 wins and just five losses on the season. Spartans also presented junior Jake Gondick with a banner to celebrate his 50th varsity win Thursday night.
Girls Wrestling
The girls wrestling team traveled to Shell Lake on Jan. 24 and turned in a strong performance with all wrestlers earning podium finishes. Lyric Perry and Ana Johnson led the team, posting the top records so far this season with a (13-15) for Perry and (15-8) for Johnson.
Gymnastics
The Gymnastics team was at Rice Lake on Tuesday where they scored a 125 overall, good enough for a 3rd place finish.
Cheer
Cheer was on the road down to Madison on Saturday where they took first in their competition.
