Senior, and homecoming king, Caleb Sexton has a wide range of skills that he uses often at SHS. He can be seen tooting his french horn during band class and during halftime of football games. Caleb can also be seen up in the booth on Fridays with the football coaches filming the Varsity football team. From Aug. 1, until the last game, he has been filming the team for his senior project.

“Of course it was super nerve-wracking, the only person I really knew or talked to on the team was my brother,” Caleb said. “But as the season went on, the team was more accepting of me and they made me feel at home.”

Parents Scott and Julie Sexton have known since he was a child that he was different. He wasn’t keen about talking to kids his age, he preferred to talk to adults.

“Caleb is not afraid to tell you you’re wrong when you’re wrong. He will tell you straight up when he thinks you’re wrong,” Scott said.

Despite the candor highlighted by his father, Caleb is not always a critic.

“He’s so kind to everyone so it’s almost impossible not to like him,” Julie said. “He’s got perhaps the driest sense of humor but it makes everyone laugh.”

His father Scott was very supportive of him and filming.

“When I first heard Caleb was going to go film for the Spartans I was excited because he was going to get an opportunity to make new friends,” Scott said.

The best way to describe Caleb, for the people closest to him, is that he just puts a smile on your face. He has an odd way of speaking about the things he cares about that can brighten anyone’s day. Caleb Sexton is odd and goofy and doesn’t fail to make those around him smile.

The reporter is the brother of Caleb and helped conduct the interviews. No material is biased.
