Girl’s hockey victory at home slips away

Spartans sophomore center Adalyn Benson (27) faces off against Mirage junior forward Hannah Graves (6) at the Superior Ice Arena on Jan. 29, 2024. Benson went on to score a goal in the first period.

On Jan. 29, 2024, girls hockey lost to the Proctor-Hermantown Mirage at home 9-5. With the first period ending with the Spartans up 3-2, hopes were high in the Superior Ice arena. By the end of the second period, the Mirage had taken a 6-5 lead that Superior was never able to re-gain. Junior wing Makaela Reinke and sophomore defender Madelyn Bachand each fired in 2 goals, while sophomore Adalyn Benson scored a goal in period 1.

Now with a record of 18-3, they prepare to face D.C. Everest at the Superior Ice Arena on Feb. 3.
