Senior Claire Egnash committed to the University of Wisconsin-Superior to play volleyball in the fall semester of 2026.
Egnash ended her senior season at Superior High School as an opposite hitter and captain. In August, Egnash made the decision to continue her athletic and academic career at UWS. This past year, the UWS volleyball coach got into contact with her and wanted her on the team due to her talent, hardwork, and determination.
“My mentality going into a game is definitely to win, and since I’ve been playing for so long I’ve learned how to turn all of my nerves and adrenaline into something positive,” Egnash said.
Egnash’s determination is needed for her team, which makes her the perfect captain according to her teammates. She is able to help her team during practice to make sure everybody is focused and trying their best.
“She’s always bettering the ball and always taking the drills seriously, but also encouraging everyone to do so too,” senior setter Anna Matthias shared.
Some of Claire’s past teammates, like Carlie Lohman, have gone on to play for UWS, furthering Egnash’s excitement to be a part of a team with past peers.
As Egnash progresses through her last year of high school, she is looking forward to her future, ready to begin her journey of volleyball yet again.
