Civics Teacher James Hogan reflected on Veterans Day during the weeks after the holiday had taken place.

Veterans Day took place on Sat. Nov. 11, 2023. The meaning of this holiday is to remember everyone who is serving and has served while also remembering the people who have sacrificed their lives for the United States of America.

Hogan served as an Army Ranger before coming back to his hometown highschool to be a Civics 9 teacher. During this time he has brought multiple stories back with him while also bringing back life lessons. Celebrating Veterans Day is a major part of his lesson plan for that designated day.

“Now Veterans Day is so much more meaningful to me just because I was in the United States Army and I try to include a quick little segment in my lessons to remember those who have served and died for our country,” Hogan said

Celebrating Veterans Day can be as easy as thanking a veteran, or writing a letter to a deployed member of the military. Doing this shows respect and gratitude to the members of the United States Military.
