Fascinated by his family’s sports skills and military past, senior Breckin Bergquist always comes prepared. Whether it’s him gearing up for a big game, sitting in class studying for finals, or walking through yard sales to find military relics. There is never a dull moment that passes his mind.
Bergquist is a Tri-athlete, playing Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. Outside of school, he will gather all of his friends to play a competitive game of two-hand touch football at Webster park or wiffle/blitzball at the Hayes Court Complex.
“I wanted to stay busy… I just figured I want to do sports.” Bergquist said.
Bergquist learned all of these skills from his parents’ sports past. One of Bergquist’s baseball and football teammates, Senior Mike Fiegle says that he has learned a lot about Bergquist as a person on the playing field.
“He doesn’t play for himself, he plays for everyone else. He loves to play the game, and sure he worries about his playtime, but when he does get on the field, he makes do with what he has,” said Fiegle.
During Bergquist’s senior year playing football, he was awarded an all academic award for achieving academic excellence during his school career. At the time of this story, Bergquist’s current GPA is sitting at a perfect unweighted 4.0.
“Once in college, it’s more or less automatically given that you’ve shown academic expertise,” said Bergquist.

Bergquist was about nine years old when he started his obsession with anything military when his grandpa joined the Air Force at that time.
“My grandpa moved to the Air Force, and so, we got to sneak up there. We would see the jets all the time. It was sick,” Bergquist recalled.
Ever since then, his passion for the military has skyrocketed. Since 2022, Bergquist has been collecting as many military relics that he can find. Ranging from WWI to recent wars from Afghanistan, Bergquist has quite the collection, but only one relic stands out the most to him.
“My early 2000s BDU. It was the one my grandpa’s friend wore into combat.” Bergquist said.
After high school, Bergquist wishes to pursue a career in the Air Force, following his grandpa’s footsteps. Adding all of his sports skills, knowledge, and military passion, Bergquist will begin taking his military passion to new heights.
