Junior team captain Versii Kavajecz was preparing for his third year on the Superior boys wrestling team, when his twin brother and now teammate Exxl Kavajecz decided to join him for the 2025-2026 season.
This is the twins first year wrestling together in high school, but neither of them are new to the mat. Versii is a veteran to the team, whilst Exxl spent his youth wrestling and joined the team at the end of last year’s season to roll and get back into the sport.
“They push each other a lot, in conditioning they are always at the front leading together,” head coach Nicholas Long stated.
Exxl originally had wrestled but stopped in middle school after boxing began to take up most of his time, boxing became his priority. He found his love for the sport leading to his hiatus between middle school and high school.
The twins have been very beneficial to one another as Exxl has become a common training partner for Versii, and a partner in leading the team.
“Versii has been super helpful teaching me his skills and how to be a better wrestler, and I don’t think I could have gotten back into the sport without him,” Exxl said.
Ultimately, Exxl decided to wrestle with Versii this year to develop his grappling skills to compete with Versii in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). Versii currently trains at Inner Strength Martial Arts where Exxl plans to eventually join him.
Exxl and Versii plan to spend their offseason training MMA, and you might even be able to catch a fight of theirs in the fall of 2026.
