On Nov. 12, 2025, the Spartan Manufacturing staff received a check of $7,500 from the National Bank of Commerce. The National Bank of Commerce staff came into the Superior High School workshop to congratulate the staff with the check. The check was donated due to Marcus Madsen (2025), the previous Spartan Manufacturing President’s grandfather, passing away. In his will he wanted to donate $1,000, but the staff invited the bank for a tour of the shop which led them to donate more than the will entitled.
William Bates, Madsen’s grandfather, was a long time member of the National Bank of Commerce as an employee. He worked at the bank for most of his professional career, which led the bank to have interest in Spartan Manufacturing. Spartan Manufacturing President Max Carey invited employees of the bank to the workshop for them to have a glimpse at what jobs are in progress or have been completed.
“A lot of our different people, Brendan and Mikaila, they all helped out. They were very instrumental,” Carey said.
As the staff continues on with their projects, they plan to use the check for bigger and better equipment and learning opportunities.
“We want to buy a CNC desktop mill, which is a portable version of what we have in the shop,” Carey said. “We can bring that to the middle school, and we can show the middle schoolers, get them excited, and maybe raise some awareness of our program.”
