Sophomore Tayler McMeekin placed 2nd at the sectional cross country meet on October 22, 2022 in Onalaska, Wisconsin, sending her to state. This is her second year making it to state for cross country.

“I was excited because I wasn’t too confident that it was going to happen again this year,” McMeekin said.

McMeekin is motivated by personal improvement. When she achieves her personal goals she feels good.

“Kinda relieved that I made it to this point,” McMeekin said.

McMeekin’s progress helps her team as well.

“I care about them so I want to do the best I can for them too,” McMeekin said.

Before cross country season Tayler wanted to be top 10, but now she would be happy to even make it in the top 20.

“Our goal was to make it to state and now that she’s there, Tayler is such a competitor, that I know that she’s gonna give it everything she has and do the best she can,” Coach Lee Sims said.

Sims wants to support Tayler and is excited that she made it this far.

“My goal for Tayler is that she feels good and she just leaves it all on the course,” Sims said.

This year’s State Championship will be held in Wisconsin Rapids, WI at the Ridges Golf Course on Saturday October 29. The time of the event has not yet been determined.
