On Tuesday, Feb. 24 Pep Band performed at Superior Ice Arena, during the Girls Hockey Home Regionals game against Hayward.
This was an opportunity for advanced Pep Band members to symphonize the Superior vs. Hayward Girls Hockey game at home. Although not all members of band were able to play, all members were invited to watch the game and be with the group.
“We’re just trying to bring hype to the student section at sports events, we also want to show the players we support them,” said Junior flute player Joseph Flint.
During sports games, the Pep Band usually plays songs like Seven Nation Army, Toxic, and of course our very own Spartan Anthem. This time though, they took it to another level with Senior Oso Fish performing the National Anthem on the electric guitar.
“It took me about three days to learn it, and I was mostly worried about messing it up.” , Oso stated. He continues on with, “I played chords when I was playing so it added more to the solo.”
Oso found inspiration to play the National Anthem from Jimi Hendrix.

Like always the pep band continues to bring hype and uplifting to our sports events, pep band will also be playing on Thursday, March 5. once again for Girls Hockey at their state semifinals at Bob Suter Arena in Middleton WI.
The band will be taking a separate bus to the game, staying in a hotel overnight. If hockey loses, the band will spend the night in a hotel and return Friday morning. If hockey wins, the band will stay down there for the rest of the tournament.
