The pool deck is silent as senior captain, Olivia Wolbert, soars from the diving board, earning second place at the girls swim and dive senior night against Rice Lake on Oct. 16.
Wolbert has been on the team her entire high school career, earning her a captain’s position alongside her fellow seniors; Daisha Carlson, Ruby Fiegle, Addison Matushak, and Eris Wilson.
“It feels very surreal,” Wolbert said, “I guess it hit me as I was walking, that I was like ‘wow, this is it.’”
The seniors were honored that night in between diving and the other swimming events. Each senior girl walked down the deck with her parents, and received a bouquet from younger girls on the team. The team also honored the seniors from Rice Lake, presenting them each with a flower.

“It feels a little bittersweet actually, I see all of these other seniors and I just see all of them go off and start their new lives and now it’s my turn,” Fiegle said.
The senior captains had the same feelings of bittersweet excitement for the future, and that their team will be missed greatly.
“These girls are really like my second family, they are just really sweet,” Carlson said.
Carlson, Fiegle, and Wilson plan to continue swimming and diving in the future.
