Boys basketball played at home against Chippewa Falls on Dec. 5th. With two injured starters, this game was not like the others. Head coach Kory Deadrick had to adjust accordingly in order to take the win.
“It is a huge benefit to have 10 seniors, and a few underclassmen who are ready for the moment. Although losing Drew and Colson is not a good thing, we are a deep team and others stepped up big time,” Deadrick said.
Two of the players that rose to the occasion were seniors Kaden Covill and Dawson Ahlborg. Both helped secure the win, 77-46.
Both Covill and Ahlborg believe that a huge part of their success is the players they are surrounded by.

“They always pick me up whenever I make a mistake,” Covill said.
One of the reasons Ahlborg came back to play this year was because of the relationships he formed with his teammates.
“I just really missed the guys. They just motivate me, and are always pushing me to be better in practice. They’re just great,” Ahlborg said.

Going into the game, both of them had a different approach than usual. But they came into the game knowing their role and ready to perform. Deadrick knew that they both had big shoes to fill, but he was confident in both of their abilities.
“Both Kaden and Dawson bring size, rebounding, and defensive qualities that help our zone. They are very interchangeable. Looking forward to them getting more minutes in the next few weeks,” Deadrick said.
Covill and Ahlborg will continue to work hard in practice, make sure they take the steps to prepare themselves, and focus on the little things for future games. Taking each day one by one.
