Sophomore lineman Caiden Izzard demonstrated great leadership and effort to the football team this season. Izzard has had great success this season, being a returning varsity starter from last year.
Izzard started playing football at a young age and has been playing for almost his whole life. He claims he was inspired by his dad who also played football in high school.
Head coach Robb Scott says Izzard is extremely trustworthy whether it’s on or off the field.
“He is going to do his job and he’s well trusted. He’s gonna be there to help anyone who needs it, he’s a natural leader and will help anyone who needs it to get better,” Scott stated.

Because of Izzard’s great start to his high school football career being able to start varsity as a freshman, he came across some struggles with that transition.
“It was definitely tough, different game, different style,” said Izzard.
Izzard, still being an underclassman on varsity, still faces some problems.
“For me, it’s being an underclassman. (It’s) kind of scary going up against some seniors or getting bossed around,” said Izzard.
Izzard claims he didn’t let anything stop him from doing what he loves.
“He’s always helping out, younger kids follow his steps and he helps them with snapping,” said varsity quarterback Carson Smith.
Even though Izzard is good at what he does on the field, he always does what is best for the team
“Number one is his actions, he knows how to play through pain he’s got a ton of grit, he knows it’s not all about him. He’s always trying to make his teammates better, he’s very well respected,” Scott said.
Izzard, only being a sophomore, has already built a good reputation and image for himself on the team. He knows being a trustworthy and respected teammate is more important than anything else when it comes to being on the team.
Through all of his effort and practice, he knows that only good can come out of his hard work.
“Caiden has started every game on varsity his high school career which is extremely uncommon at this point in his sophomore year,” Scott stated. “He’s only getting started and has a ton of experience already. It’s really exciting to see what his finished product is gonna be… I believe he’s gonna be very good when it’s all said and done. He’ll be someone I’ll be talking about for a very long time.”
