The varsity girls basketball team played lights out Friday, Feb. 14,  against the Minneapolis North Polars. The Spartans were on fire early in the game leading the Polars 17-6 with 10:19 left in the first half.

The Spartans went into the second half with some foul trouble but would continue leading the Polars 52-25.

“We had a really good defensive game because we were able to break down their offense well,” Miller said.

With a victory the girls improved their record to 11-12.

The top scorers of the game, senior captain Kaliegh Miller and freshman Savannah Leopold both scored 19 points each.

Because it was senior night, before the game younger players shared some words about how the seniors had been great role models for them. The seniors that were being honored were Abby Dolsen, Kaileigh Miller, Brooke Koenen, Izzy Swanon and Niya Wilson.

“Senior night is always a fun night.  Everyone got to play a lot, we played very well, and the fans got to see a high scoring game,” varsity girls basketball Coach Kontny said.
