Underdog Spartans power past number one Pulaski, advance to Level III

The Superior Spartans upset the Pulaski Red Raiders 36-27 at Pulaski, Nov. 1. The Spartans fell down early in the first half 20-8. However the Spartans came back out on top after half time and were firing on all cylinders. They out-scored the Red Raiders 28-7 in the second half. 

With under a minute remaining senior Jarrett Gronski rushed into the end zone to give Superior a 30-27 lead. The Red Raiders received the ball back and drove all the way down to the Spartans’ 12-yard line.But they were not able to convert on third down.

When it was fourth-and-5 with eight seconds remaining, Superior took their final timeout to try to ice the kicker. Superior blocked the 27-yard field goal attempt and ran it all the way back to the end zone, giving the boys a 9 point win. 

They will continue their season by advancing to level III of the playoffs and playing Kaukauna. 

At the time of this article, the location of the Spartans’ next game is undetermined.
