The DECA Tailgate event took place before the Sept. 6 football game against Eau Claire North at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex. Students in the DECA club raised money for the Superior Vocational Center. This year, $2050.95 was raised by raffles, ticket sales, donations, and the Miracle-Minute. Another $1040 was raised by selling t-shirts for the SHS activities and athletic department.

The idea was inspired by coach Josh Noble, SHS alumni and loyal Spartan fan who attends many home sporting events. The tailgate event is about raising money for charitable causes, so DECA figured that this would be the perfect idea to honor Noble’s dedication.

“The atmosphere was great,” Dean of Students Bryan Denninger said. “DECA does a great job of putting (tailgate) on every year. I hope it stays on for years to come.”

The football team would follow up tailgate with a 49-7 victory over the Eau Claire North Huskies.
