“The Sound of Music” was put on by the drama department this past weekend, and senior Taryn Rhoads made sure the actors were heard by the audience. This was Rhoads’s first time on the technical crew for the musical, and she had no experience using a soundboard.

“I had volunteered during the summer musical putting mics on the leads,” Rhoads said. “Mrs. Gilbert hinted at the fact that she wanted me running sound for this musical, but I didn’t know for sure until sometime in January.”

Rhoads was taught by volunteer Nick Gosen who has run the soundboard for previous musicals.

Rhoads said that overall the shows went smoothly and she was happy with how it turned out, but there were a few kinks.

“I was nervous because sometimes the soundboard would mute the mics, and I couldn’t unmute them because I hadn’t been taught how,” Rhoads said.

Rhoads said that she would run the soundboard again.

“I wouldn’t hesitate to accept if they ever asked me to help out again,” Rhoads said. “I found a family and it was a ton of fun.”
