Superior’s dance program hosted a community showcase on Jan. 7 at Superior High School, in order to prepare dancers and twirlers from twelve studios and schools for the upcoming competition season.
Coaches and dancers saw this showcase as an opportunity for extra practice before their official performances during competition season. Sterling Silver Studio coach, and Superior Alumni, Rokkyn Kavajecz thought of this opportunity as a great way for her students to get comfortable performing in front of an audience.
“I think that these showcases or any performance like this, that we are able to do is super helpful for competitions,” Kavajecz said.

From a dancer’s perspective, not only was this an opportunity for practice, but to watch other studios, and their own performances. Junior Imperium dancer, Lauren Heier enjoyed this opportunity to watch other dances from the Twin Ports area.
“It was fun watching other teams, especially the college dance teams. I’m very glad that I had this performance to practice,” Heier said.
If you missed the opportunity to watch the local dancers at this showcase, the Denfeld Dance Team will be hosting their own showcase on Jan. 14 in the Denfeld main gymnasium. The same teams will be present.
