For the last four years, there has been one person on the tech theater scene who has flown under the radar. With his breakthrough abilities in adapting to sudden and unexpected issues, role changes and shifting management, senior Wyld Wittkopf is a powerhouse in the theater.
Wittkopf is well known for taking nine AP classes, his music as a percussionist in band, and for competing in two different sports all throughout the year, all while still having time to work on theater productions. In truth, the main reason Wittkopf does theatre is very simple:
“It wasn’t a sport,” said Wittkopf.
Wittkopf runs cross country in the fall and swims in the winter, so theater just seemed like a good idea to fill up his free time in the spring without doing a sport. With his time in tech, Wittkopf has done almost every single role ranging from lighting in the lighting booth, to costumes. Often working with tech director Cheri Tesarek using the serger on costumes. But there’s two positions in tech that are near and dear to Wittkopf’s heart.
“It’s between the running crew and in the light Booth. I get to talk to the people, I get to be down there on the stage, it’s great. But when I’m up in the booth I just get to hang out and it’s also great, I just watch all the chaos unfold and don’t have to be a part of any of it.” Wittkopf said.

Wittkopf was well known for his chemistry within the tech crew and his ability to do anything at the drop of a hat when needed.
“I’ll probably just miss the team. Everyone here is really fun, I really like hanging out with everyone.” Wittkopf said.
With the upcoming production “High School Musical”, Wittkopf is looking out for our new students wishing to join tech crew and work behind the scenes in all of the shows. Tech is the job that makes the show. Without Wittkopf, a lot of the shows at SHS would not have been as smooth as they were.
Because Wittkopf is a senior this year, this will be his final show. Wittkopf has a parting message for anyone who is on the fence about joining tech in the future.
“Just join Tech. It’s a great vibe, great people. It’s a no drama place, which isn’t actually true, but we’re pretending it is. We’re very dramatic.” Wittkopf said.
