During the 2025 school year, Family Engagement Coordinator LeAnn Egnash took charge of the daily morning announcements from Elaine Holmberg, the attendance officer. She is motivated and driven to increase website traffic to the announcements website, S’more, a digital newsletter.
“I was trying to find more ways for kids to get to open their email because we don’t have a whole lot of readers. I can track it on S’more, to see how many reads it’s getting each day, and it’s pretty low. So I was like, what’s another way I could get kids to want to open this every day?” Egnash shared.
Egnash is also the social media manager for the Superior High School. Along with the announcements, she created a platform for staff members, students, and community members to share shoutouts to anyone that’s a part of the student body. These shoutouts are weekly, and anyone is allowed to submit one.
“I think it’s important for all kids to feel valued by recognition and we get a lot of athletic recognition and clubs. but there are students doing a variety of things outside and inside of school, so being able to recognize all of the amazing accomplishments that those students are able to achieve is an important part of furthering the reach in our community.” Egnash said.
An example of how impactful these shoutouts have been occurred when the annual pops concert was in full swing. There was a Spartan Shoutout for musicians during the morning prior to the performance.
“During the announcements, when they said good luck to the music department, it made me feel a lot more confident about the performance and it made me feel like we might actually attract more students to attend the concert,” junior flute player Lily Sakuray said.
The Google form allows any members of the community to submit a shout out and continue to show appreciation to all of our Spartans. Check it out HERE!
