The Mock Trial team is heading off to state once again on March 7 after getting second place at regionals.
Senior captain Kaitlyn Forester describes their regional experience this year as a very close competition, with differences between the top three teams being only a ballot. However, the Superior team was able to take second place, stamping their ticket to the state tournament for the twelfth year in a row.

The team is heavily senior led. Out of the ten varsity competitors, eight are seniors. Along with a majority senior team, they also have a senior time keeper. After this year the team would be losing a lot of experience and skill, but the team would not just be losing skill.
“Our seniors are not only incredibly talented, but they are phenomenal leaders,” six-year coach Heidi Gondik said.
She believes that each senior has had a large and lasting impact on the team.
Despite big senior losses, Forester and Gondik are confident that the hole left by the seniors can be easily filled with the young talent on the team.
“Our two non-senior varsity members, Leah Gavin and Sierrah Markon are extremely talented,” said Gondik.
These two members, along with Lila Gusinski who was chosen as the top attorney in the regional competition, will likely be a leading force on the team next year.
The team is looking forward to the fun of the state competition. Three-year coach Michael Weinandt is excited to see the team show all of their passion for mock trial when they compete and Gondik is excited to see all of the team’s hard work pay off as they are met with stiff competition at state.
