Freshman Tucker Tepsa had the opportunity to hit the ice with the varsity hockey team mid-November. Tepsa started off as a varsity forward, an opportunity freshman do not typically have.
Tepsa has been putting in hard work to be able to play hockey for eleven years now and has had many great experiences while playing with the team.
“It is a good atmosphere and I enjoy playing with my teammates and friends,” Tepsa said.
Coming from amateur hockey, Tepsa noticed a different level of play while on varsity ice.
“It is much more physical and faster-paced play,” Tepsa explained.
In early December during a varsity hockey game versus Denfeld, Tepsa fractured his collarbone resulting in him being out the rest of the season. Although injured, he did not let it discourage him.
“I’ve been dealing with my injury by resting it and working out to make sure I don’t get rusty,” Tepsa said.
Tepsa is a multi-sport athlete playing not just hockey but also lacrosse. Tepsa is determined to keep going heading into the spring sports season.
His recent doctor’s visit noted he would be cleared in time for the season start.
Freshman Gage Hanson has played alongside Tepsa during this season while on the junior varsity hockey team.
“Tucker is a great teammate and a good team player,” Hanson said.
Tepsa encourages younger players to keep going and work hard so they can also be successful and have fun doing the things they enjoy and want to go further with.
