The boys hockey team fell short to Wausau West during their second round playoff game on Feb. 20. The boy’s team was hosted at Marathon Park against number two seed for the challenge to a victory. Opening the game, senior forward Cainen Raivala scored with an assist from his linemate junior Brady Haroldson.
The Spartans racked up six minutes in the box, but were able to manage to kill all three penalties off. The Spartans kept the Warriors off the board going into the locker room after the first period 1-0.
In the second period, junior forward Cameron LaPorte scored a rebound goal off of forward freshman Henry Haugen’s shot leading the second period 2-0 for the Spartans.
With four minutes and 11 seconds remaining in the second period, Wausau West’s Cooper Depuydt challenged the game to a 2-1 score.
