The boys basketball team is holding on to their conference title after their win over Denfeld on Feb. 25 at Denfeld High School. Last year the team was co-champions with Hermantown and Denfeld, but after their recent victory, the boys earned the title for themselves.
The Spartans lost to Denfeld earlier in the season, 62-68 on Jan. 23 at home.
“I think we played much better defensively this time compared to the first time we played,” said junior captain Drew Eisel.
The Spartans were able to come back stronger with a score of 75-58.
“This game was especially important to me because this was the first time I have won the outright championship,” said Eisel. “It was also exciting to see the JV get into the game.”
The boys play their next game for the region semi-final on March 7 Appleton North at Appleton.
