Junior forward Calvin Anderson hit a basketball milestone at an away game against River Falls on Jan. 28. Anderson hit 1,000 career points which puts him down in Superior basketball history. According to Anderson the only other players to hit this milestone are Tresean Sanigar (2024) and Joel Lindberg (2011).
Anderson’s success began during his freshman season where he started almost every game. That same year the team was one game away from advancing to state.
“My freshman year I wasn’t much of a scorer, I was more out there to rebound and play defense. I learned from Daynen Lull, he taught me the plays and made me feel very welcome,” said Anderson.
Despite the fact he said he was mainly defensive he still scored 306 points. In his sophomore year he had to step up and fill a bigger role. Anderson scored 367 points in less games played.
That year the boys basketball team finished with a regular season record of 18-6, however losing in the first round.
“Last year we were a really good team. We won 18 games but we lost in the first round of the playoffs, that was really tough of me. I thought we could go really far in the playoffs. I used that as motivation over the summer to get better at everything,” said Anderson.

Junior guard Colson Schumacher has played basketball with Anderson for eight years.
“He is a really good leader to us and the younger kids, and as a basketball player he’s really funny and knows when to motivate at practice and when to joke around,” said Schumacher.
Anderson is currently at 1,053 career points and will continue to work hard and chase the all time scoring record currently set by Joel Lindberg’s 1,380 career points.
