Senior basketball players Tara Stratton and Annabel Manion aimed to raise awareness for breast cancer through their senior project on Dec. 2, 2024. Stratton and Manion played in a basketball game versus Esko. This game was not just for enjoyment and sportsmanship, it was to spread awareness.
“Many people around this area and the world are affected by breast cancer. We did this to raise awareness on breast cancer and do our part to help,” said Stratton.
A mutual idea that appeared one day during their advisory class was brewed into their senior project. Originally, the duo wanted to host a bake sale during the game, but instead, they decided to have a ticket raffle and themed merchandise for sale.
“You could win lots of things from pet baskets, coffee, movie night, drinks, gift cards and many other things,” said Stratton.
Manion dropped 23 points during the game, but the Spartans lost 53-60.
“We wanted to win, but we just couldn’t execute, and that hurt us in the end,” said Manion.
