The band Green Day released their ‘American Idiot’ album 20 years ago on Sept. 21, 2004. The album included the most popular songs such as the album leads ‘American Idiot’ and ‘Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams.’ The album starts fast and slows down to accommodate for the rock effect that Green Day is known for. For years, these songs have been climbing the charts of rock and roll genre. Since 2015, they have been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Green Day was introduced to me by Senior Zac Olson. The first song he told me to listen to was Brain Stew by Green Day. After Olson’s recommendation, I started to listen to some of their other music like ‘The Dookie’ album, ‘21 Guns’ then ‘American Idiot’. At first I was not used to their style of music, but over time I got more into the style of rock/metal, now that’s all I listen to.
Now, it’s their 20th year anniversary of ‘American Idiot’ and it’s time to celebrate the work of a great album and some of their other newer music, like ‘Dilemma’ off their newest album, ‘Saviors’. I think a lot of people who don’t like rock or want to get into rock, these guys are the people to start out on.
