Senior Natalie Schultz has recently sparked an interest for photography in the Twin Ports area. Schultz has been doing photography for Spartan Spin and Yearbook since her sophomore year. As of last spring, she began to take up a love for it outside of the classroom, leading her to take trips to shoot photos for multiple sports and schools in the area.
“I would see people on my TikTok For You page and Instagram reels making media stuff and posting pictures,” Schultz said. “I saw all that stuff and thought ‘woah that looks cool’ I want to start my own brand kind of thing, so I just started doing it.”
Schultz also started photography because she realized no one else really did it outside of school. She really enjoys shooting for sports like lacrosse, soccer, and football but is now hoping to expand to things other than sports. This includes videography, senior pictures, group pictures, and couples pictures. Schultz has taken photos of Emma Ferg during her Prospects hockey tournament.
“I was in starting position at a face off and you can see my number and last name on the back of my jersey,” Ferg said. “It’s cool that somebody’s getting out there and taking pictures of our community outside of class.”
Schultz plans on continuing her photography in the future no matter what her career is due to her immense passion for it.
“I plan on going to college for sports journalism, which hopefully will include photography as well,” Schultz said. “But if that doesn’t include it, I definitely just want to include it somehow in my future even if that means doing it on my own time.”
