On Aug. 27, 2024, the Superior High School hosted a staff development day for all of the schools in the district as well as the Transportation Board Office to have a cookout themed lunch, and engage in some friendly competition. Bryant, Northern Lights, Cooper, and Four Corners elementaries, as well as Superior Middle School, Superior High School, and the Transportation Board Office faced off in a series of challenges.
The first challenge was a football themed dress-up relay where two staff members from each team would have to run across the gym and back twice to retrieve and don football gear, while a member of the team is holding a football. Counselor Tiffany Mattson and teacher Kathleen Sims took home the win for the high school.
The second challenge was a Wisconsin themed trivia tournament hosted by biology teacher and school forest instructor Lori Danz. The questions ranged from school district and state history, all the way to random facts about Wisconsin. Northern Lights Elementary defeated the middle school to secure the victory.
The final challenge was a classic tug-o-war showdown. Teams faced each other in an elimination style bracket, narrowing it down to the final two teams in the championship match. In the final round, the Transportation Board Office faced off against Superior Middle School. The battle lasted over a full minute, with the middle school reigning victorious.
With the staff day over, teachers and staff from across the district must now shift their attention to the start of the school year on Sep. 3.
