Jayce Rue started playing baseball at a very young age and is an excellent player. Since he started, he has always been someone the coaches can count on. Now he inspires young baseball players to become varsity players and to work hard and have fun in any sport they play.
The crowd gets loud when his name is called during the introductions and whenever he hits. There are many people cheering him on as he steps up to the plate, no matter how good or bad the team is doing. He makes plays that any average shortstop couldn’t make and also cheers on his teammates from the dugout.
“His biggest role on the team is getting on base and putting the ball in play while also getting lots of outs, being consistent, knowing what you’re getting out of him,” said sophomore baseball player Calvin Anderson.
Rue’s practice has really paid off now, as he has been a varsity starter two years in a row.
“Jayce makes big plays, that makes energy with getting on base in scoring position,” said Carter Gilbertson, also a sophomore in baseball.
Rue started baseball because of his dad Matt Rue. His dad played baseball and has been Rue’s coach.
Rue is someone that I look up to because he’s a good role model and is very kind to new people he meets.
I met Rue in my first year of travel baseball when I really only knew one or two people. I didn’t have the right bat then, so he lent me his and brought me into the friend group. Now we are all really great friends and teammates. Rue brings our team together even if he doesn’t know it. We’ve all been brothers since the first time we met.
