It was the first couple days back from my oral surgery, I arrived at my seventh hour as normal. My teacher, Pete Conley, greeted me and told me what I had missed. He also said that he can help whenever and asked how my surgery went. We then continued with the lesson he had planned, and he told the class they had four days until they needed to take a test. For me, he understood that I had been gone, and told me I could take the test when I felt ready.
Conley’s always been interested in anatomy and archery.
“I already work with kids, so coaching gives me a different way of working with them,” Conley said.
Conley is always staying busy with balancing work, being a father, and coaching the archery team. Along with this, he will also occasionally help out his daughters volleyball team in the morning.
“After coaching football for 25 years, I know that balancing coaching and family life is very hard. I also know how busy archery is with paperwork and practice schedules, but he does a great job with balancing everything,” said Conley’s colleague Ecology and Conservation teacher Donald Polkinghorn.
Lots of students would agree that he’s a great teacher and coach. He’s very friendly and can work with anyone.
“He does pretty well on being a dad, coach, and teacher. He’s definitely had to make some sacrifices since my birthday is around the time he leaves for nationals in Kentucky,” said Conley’s freshman daughter Emersyn Conley.
Conley’s always willing to connect with students, so feel free to check out room 1116 or to take one of the classes he teaches.
