One rainy day in March, I walked into shop teacher Pete James’ class knowing that James could have the answer to my problem. I knew he had gone to high school with my uncle. I had been dreading this conversation all day, but I knew it was going to make me feel better knowing I could talk to someone. I saw James standing in the hallway and he was all ears, I knew I could talk to him. I could tell James was actually listening to me, and he kept good eye contact. A year later when I asked him if he had remembered the conversation, he said that he did.
When I first met James, he was a shop teacher at Superior Middle School. However, James and I didn’t exactly “connect” until I was into my sophomore year at Superior High School. During my time at the high school, I learned that James has been a big help to a lot of people in the Superior community.
He has real conversations when kids go and ask for his help.
“It’s an honest conversation, and I will tell it as it is, ” James said.
James is someone who keeps it real and will help you with anything. If you need any help, don’t be afraid to reach out to James in the classroom or while he’s doing hall monitoring during second hour. He is a good person to have in the Spartan community, and I am very glad to know him.
