Back in December I was struggling with school, and even though I wasn’t one of her own students, I went to English teacher Emily Kelly. She helped me by giving me advice and listening to me. Her classroom already felt like a safe and welcoming space to come to.
For many students, Kelly is someone they can go to talk to and she’ll actually listen to them. They view her as someone they can trust and also consider to be great at giving advice to kids who need them.
One of the students she has inspired is junior Victoria Nelson.
“From the moment I had met Mrs. Kelly, she has inspired me so much in just the short amount of time I’ve known her. Her class has become a safe space for many people within the building.” Nelson said.
Kelly has also been inspired by a past teacher which is what led her to what she does now.
“When I would be struggling with mental health and what not, I had certain teachers that I would go to and other teachers that made learning fun and I realized that I was really passionate about helping others and the way I really like to help others or would like to help others is by helping people who are about to be grown humans.” Kelly said.
With whatever it is that you need help with whether you’re her student or not, Kelly is always there to help out and welcome you with open arms and a smile.
