On Sept. 16, Spartan boys varsity soccer played Marshall Hilltoppers at the NBC Sports Complex. The start of the game it was very back and forth with the ball until the Hilltoppers found their way onto the board. They scored with a cross to the right side then into the net. The score at the half was 0-1 Hilltoppers. Three minutes into the second half, Jarrett Kallinen shot the ball from the left side of the field. The ball looked like it was going to keep going wide right of the net, but it took a hard curve back into the net. A few minutes after Kallinen scored there was a foul outside of the 18 foot goalie box. Brandon Conklin took the foul shot and placed the ball inside the 6 foot goalie box and Eddie O’Brien crashed the net and put the ball in. After the second goal the Spartans killed the clock off and ended the game with a win, Spartans 2 and Hilltoppers 1.
