On Feb. 14, boys basketball defeated the Eau Claire North Huskies 73-58 at home. The Spartans improved to 17-4 on the season with the big home win. The Spartans have gone a full calendar year without losing a game at home, as well as boasting a six game winning streak for the second time this season.
Senior guard Tre Sanigar led the team with 29 points followed by sophomore Calvin Anderson with 19. Connecting on three three pointers, junior Isaac Peterson finished with nine points, winning iFan’s Nummi Jewelers’ “Gem of the Game” for his sharpshooting.
The team faced off against the Chippewa Falls Cardinals losing at home 70-62 at their senior night on Feb. 17. With the loss, the Spartans record is now 17-5 as they are locked in on the third seed in the Division 1 Section 2a WIAA Boys Basketball Playoffs.
Sanigar led the team with 20 points and six assists while senior forward Brandon Aker put up 13 points with seven rebounds. Senior forward Brandon Dickerson from Chippewa put up 19 points, three assists, two rebounds and four steals and was selected as iFan’s Nummi Jewelers’ “Gem of the Game.”
The Spartans will be at home Feb. 22 to compete against the Hermantown Hawks for the Individual Conference Championship.
