As of the beginning of the 2023 school year, some drivers may experience disciplinary actions regarding the changes of staff and student parking lots.
Head Principal Aaron Fezzey is in his second year as head principal who first introduced the new regulations as of the 2022 school year.
“We don’t want to punish anyone, but if it comes down to that, then we will want to speak verbally and hopefully resolve it. If issues continue, we can suspend their parking permit, as it says in the parking contract they agreed to. Now the last resort could come to not allowing them to park on campus anymore,” Fezzey said.
Parking lots were changed originally at the start of the 2022 school year, with no plans of disciplinary action. Regardless, not much was changed with how drivers went throughout their day.
Fezzey stressed the importance when he said that this decision came about because he was concerned for people’s safety. The flow of traffic was intense and Fezzey made the decision, with help of others, to designate other lots to keep everyone moving and safe.
Fezzey has wanted to do it long before he came to the job and believes if everyone follows these new guidelines, the traffic on Spartan Drive will improve greatly.
