Varsity victory in opener over Cardinals

The Superior Spartans varsity basketball team defeated the Chippewa Falls Cardinals 71-61 on Tuesday Nov. 23 at the Spartan Arena. The game versus the Cardinals was the first of the season for the season and helps move them to 1-0 on the year. The leading scorers for the Spartans were seniors (11) Tanner Swanson and (15) Jake Kidd who both scored 16 points. They were followed by (12) Shane Leask who dropped 14 points and and led the team in three-pointers with four.

The victory also marked a first for new head coach Kory Deadrick. who was very excited earning his first win against the Cardinals.

“Very exciting to win, found a way to beat a really good team”, Deadrick said.

Senior Evan BennettĀ  who scored eight points tonight is really enjoying Deadrick’s coaching style and likes how the team is looking through it’s first game.

“He brings a lot of energy, we’re moving a lot on offense, different sets out of our main offense spread”, Bennett Said.

The team’s next game is on Tuesday, Nov.30 against the Hudson Raiders at the Spartan Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm

Girls Recap

The Varsity girls team earned their first victory over the Chippewa Falls Cardinals on Tuesday, Nov. 23 with a final score of 68-43. The game took place at Chippewa Falls High School in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Their next game will be against the Princeton Royal Tigers on Thursday December 2 at Princeton high school. Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm.
