The complex at SHS was utilized by UWS and UMD athletics teams from April 9 to 12.

“Their fields have not thawed out yet. They are able to clear the fields off of snow but until the ground softens, their games are unable to be played,” Athletic Director Ray Kosey said.

Luckily for them, they were able to rent out the softball and baseball fields as needed to play their games and keep schedules on track. The fields are very easy to clear because the snow melts quickly as the turf beads heat up when exposed to the sun.

“The baseball and softball fields can be rented for $125 per hour, and the big field for $175 per hour,” Kosey said.

The money is being put into a separate savings account that will be used for future repair needs.

The complex is very nice to have available for other teams, although  “Our athletic teams have the number one priority for use of the complex,” Kosey said.
