Freshman Hunter Wallace, an avid game hunter pursues different types of animals including deer and pheasant. Typically every year he goes down to South Dakota to pheasant hunt with his grandpa. For deer season, Wallace hunts around the Poplar area and goes with his dad.

“My favorite part of hunting this year was when I went down to South Dakota and shot 43 birds in three days,” Wallace said.

This year bow and crossbow season went from Sept. 16 to Jan. 7. Wallace shot a doe and a spike buck.

Rifle season was a nine-day period which went from Nov. 18 to the 26th. During this time he shot a mature doe and a four point buck. He shot all these from a deer stand located 20 feet up in a pine tree.

Wallace put in a lot of time and effort this year, going out thirty-five times even on frigid days in below-zero temperatures.
