From start of the project in April, construction is still going on daily to get the new high school built. And each day school life is affected in some way.

Teacher Jason Kalin, whose classroom is right next to construction, said, “There are times when the saws are being used, and it bugs us, but it’s nothing a closed window can’t fix.”

For the school years 2018 to 2019, there’s many new changes that will happen as construction comes close to an end.

“Plans for the start of 2018-2019 are that students and staff should be able to move into the 3 story academic building. Rooms will be ready for subjects like band, choir and three art rooms. Some rooms may even be complete by spring to move into,” said Assistant Principal Steve Olson.

Olson also said that there is an idea of the start of 2018 school year being delayed, but the decision has yet to be made by Superintendent Stevens, because by state law schools are required to have a certain amount of minutes and there is a lot to consider in the final decision.

“They are looking into moving the current kitchen into the old C hall science rooms in April/May, and we may be eating in the new commons by then – if it’s done,” stated Assistant Principal Bill Punkyo.

So far the completion of the high school is still set for 2019, and things are running relatively smoothly.
