The girls golf season wrapped up on Oct. 7 with Brynn Johnson competing at sectionals in Tomah at the Hiawatha Golf Club. Captain Brynn Johnson led the team and tied for the most all-conference points. Though Johnson individually qualified, the Spartans were one spot away from going to sectionals as a team.
“Individually it felt really good but of course I wish we would have made it as a team,” Johnson said.
The season ended with a team record of 13-1 in the regular season. Johnson and captain Tara Stratton both closed off their high school golf careers having lettered in varsity all four years. According to head coach Ed Willie, Stratton also had a solid season finishing fourth out of 60 golfers in the conference meet with a career best of 89 strokes.
“It was the end of an era as Brynn and Tara move on but a start of a new one with some really promising young talent,” said Willie.
