Sisters Greta and Lily Clark advanced to the WIAA Girls Tennis State tournament on Oct. 9, 2024 in Eau Claire. The duo competed against Stevens Point and pulled out a win in a third set tie breaker. The match scores were 6-4, 4-6, and 10-7.
According to current and former coaches Mark Winkle, Pete Conley, and Marc Campbell no player has gone undefeated in the regular season since at least the 1990s. The sisters ended the regular season with a doubles record of 13-0.
The duo have been successful as a partnership, but have also shown strengths as singles.
Great Clark ended with a regular season record of 6-0 with Lily Clark finishing with 7-0.
Both started playing in middle school and have progressed since then.
“I started playing in 7th grade but got more serious and actually started competing in 8th grade,” Lily Clark said.
Their relationship on the court is a little different than for their teammates because they are sisters.
“We definitely have our arguments on the court that need to be resolved, but when we just get along, it’s nice. It’s smooth,” Lily Clark said.
The sisters will be competing at the WIAA Girls Tennis State Tournament. The tournament will be taking place Oct. 17-19 in Madison.
