A new addition to the girls varsity volleyball team, freshman Kiley Murray, shares her new experience at the high school level.
“It’s been great, all of my teammates are so welcoming and they don’t make me feel like I’m just a freshman,” Murray said.
As Superior goes 10-14 (sets) and a game record of 4-2 in the season, she has been a big part of this season for the team.
“She’s like fresh blood; she brings the freshmen energy that we need,” captain Jazmine Smith said.

Murray has 31 total blocks and 111 kills.
“I have been enjoying high school volleyball; it’s a whole new level. It’s a totally new environment and experience for me and I have been enjoying getting to know all of the girls and learning how to work with them on the court,” Murray said.
While Murray is still navigating and figuring out this new experience, she has proved her value to the team. On Sept. 25, the team battled the Proctor Rails, going into four sets. Murray scored the game winning point to lead the Spartans to a 3-1 win.
“It felt amazing, the loud chanting and cheering was what really helped with my confidence and performance, but I couldn’t have done it without Claire Egnash,” Murray said.
Murray says she cannot wait to see the improvement from the start to the end of her first season of high school volleyball. The team will put a wrap on their regular season with their last game at Rock Ridge on Oct. 14.
