Similar to the “tourist day” during  Homecoming 2017, Student Council held a photo contest in the cafeteria during lunch for Alaska day on Monday, Feb. 5.

According to Jaylynn Glaus, a junior member of Student Council, each picture gets posted on the group’s Snapchat account, and the photo with the most screenshots gets a prize.

Glaus, who has been to Alaska to visit her family that lives there, took lead with this event and created the background for the photo.

“I was inspired by the mountain scenery and the northern lights that I saw while I was there,” Glaus said.

Student Council has incorporated more social media this year in hopes to include more students in their events.

“Even when kids aren’t sitting in the cafeteria during lunch, they are still able to participate by screenshotting their favorite picture,”Glaus said.

She also explained that anytime there is a prize involved, students are more likely to engage in the activity.

Similarly to Glaus, junior Shannon McCoshen participated in the dress up day by wearing winter gear all day.

“It is an easy dress up day because everyone in Superior has winter clothing,”McCoshen said.

McCoshen plans to dress up for all the days this week and participate in as many lunch activities as she can because she thinks the the Spartan Road Trip theme is creative.
